Ontario EcoSchools makes every effort to ensure that certification applications are
assessed accurately and equitably. Feedback on the application, portfolio and, if
applicable, site visit are provided for each assessment. If points are changed then the
feedback should include a reason why points were deducted. For further clarity on the
application criteria, please see the Certification Guide and other information contained within this section, "Become an EcoSchool".
If, after reading the feedback and consulting the resources mentioned above, a school wishes to appeal the assessment, they are welcome to do so. There are a few steps to follow:
Step 1
Contact your board representative and explain your concern. They may be able to help
clarify the scoring. If you do not have a board representative, then proceed to Step 2.
Step 2
Send an email to info (at) ontarioecoschools.org. Write up your concerns using the following headings:
Contact information
• School name
• School board

• Question(s) in dispute (e.g., Q3.4)
