continued: Letter writing campaign success

Information about the campaign was conveyed in school announcements, staff meetings, articles in the school newsletter and was also covered in local media.

Students relished the opportunity to be agents of change in their community. The letter writing campaign increased student and teacher awareness of waste management issues in their school and community.

Not only did the campaign engage the entire school community in environmental learning connected to action, but it it turned out to be extremely successful. Lancaster is now the pilot project for the city of Kingston implementing green bin pick up at schools!!!

The experience was a career highlight for the lead teacher and a very empowering experience for the staff and students at Lancaster.

This school-wide campaign can be submitted for an EcoSchools Environmental Stewardship activity.
