Over 150 students participated in the performance and the entire school population watched the production. Hartman also coordinated with two other schools to spread the message to other school communities.
The play was publicized to the school community every day from the end of February, with daily announcements on the P.A. announcing what act was practicing during recess. At the March assembly, students saw one of the dance numbers and a synopsis of the play's plot. On the night's performance, the environmental message was shared as a prologue to the performance.
Money for the ticket sales were sent to a charity in India that provides education and training to improve the working and living conditions of children and their families who make a living by salvaging items from waste sites.
